A half day workshop (1pm to 4pm) - the perfect introduction to the cyanotype process. We will start the session with a brief explanation of the cyanotype process and then continue with some print experimentation with various objects such as as leaves and feathers on ready prepared papers, fabrics and wood. You are also encouraged to bring your favourite leaves and/or objects from home too but I have plenty here to inspire you. You will go home with a selection of your own fabulous cyanotype prints
Spend the day here at the workshop printing your own cyanotype fabric and then making a beautiful 25cm drum lampshade with the results. Two workshops in one - not only do you learn about the cyanotype process but you also learn how to construct your own lampshade.
This workshop is a full day running from 10:30am until 4:30pm with an hour for lunch.
I will provide all the materials you need but you are more than welcome to bring your own leaves, flowers, feathers etc to create your unique designs.
The fabric we will use will be a lovely quality linen which shows up the texture of the material perfectly when lit.
The day will start with an introduction to the cyanotype process with some practise samples on fabric so that you feel confident with the process and then you will print your fabric for the lampshade. This will dry over lunch and then you will spend the afternoon constructing your lampshade ready to take home with you.
A full day workshop (10:30am to 4:30pm with a 1 hour lunch break) where you can immerse yourself in the magic of the cyanotype process. We will start the day mixing up the light sensitive emulsion and then coat some paper ready for later.
While that dries, we will use paper, fabric and wood that I will have already prepared with objects and leaves that I have here in the studio to make beautiful samples and prints. You are also encouraged to bring your favourite leaves and/or objects from home too but I have plenty here to inspire you.
We will end the day with exposing the prints you coated in the morning and, if there is time, I will show you how to tone the prints a different colour too.
