This is a 6-week Self-Defence course for women: feel safer whilst at walking, learn to walk with confidence, feel less vulnerable and more empowered. Learn practical skills to stay safe.
This course integrates traditional techniques with modern technology and situational awareness to enhance personal safety. It focuses not only on physical responses but also on prevention and early detection of potential threats. We'll combine practical martial arts movements with strategic awareness to minimise risk and ensure effective self-protection. The approach emphasises simple, realistic techniques that are adaptable to everyday situations.

Although you don't need to be fit to attend this class, moves will be done from a standing position and occasionally on the ground. These can be adapted where necessary.

Our 6-week course starts on Monday 7th September 7.15-8.15pm. Please note that there is no session on 21st September, with the course then finishing on 19th October.

Meet Your Facilitator:
Phil is a well-recognised Martial Arts teacher, specialising in Japanese Ju-Jitsu. Phil is a 7th Dan, and has been inducted into the World's Martial Arts Hall of Fame as National Instructor of the Year (2023). Phil has over 45 years experience in Martial Arts. He has his own club, Kuroyaki-Ryu, which is part of Pause & Breathe. Phil has been teaching Qi Gong for Pause & Breathe since 2019, he specialises in energy and is a Reiki Master.
