It’s been a really tough year for educators. As a teacher in Irish schools, I understand the challenges first-hand. Mindfulness techniques and the accompanying science have helped me to bring steadiness to my teaching and parenting in the midst of the uncertainty we have all been facing. The summer months provide us with an opportunity to slow down and look after ourselves. Please join me…


.b Foundations is an 8-week training designed specifically for teachers, administrators and parents in the school community to experience mindfulness and

develop their own practice. .b stands for “stop, breathe and be” a core principle of mindfulness. Learning the foundations of mindfulness will help participants to reduce their own stress levels, increase the joy in their lives and to get on better with others, including pupils and colleagues.


During these 8 weeks, we read a chapter per week from Finding Peace in the Frantic World by Mark Williams, developer of MBCT at Oxford University and learn to implement the learnings to increase resilience in the face of stress and difficulties in daily life as well as school life.


On this 8-week course we will take steps toward:


• Developing strategies for calm interactions during intense moments with students/parents

• Learning about the science of stress reactivity, in ourselves and in children

• Bringing empathy and understanding to conflict to get different results

• Facilitating better relationships

• Creating more ease and joy in our lives

• Cultivating a meditation practice for ourselves


After an 8-Week course, participants report:


• Less stress, tension, anxiety and fatigue

• Sharpened focus, attention span, memory retention, executive functioning

• Reduction in irritability, conflict and disputes

• Better communication, collaborative teamwork, relationships

• Enhanced decision-making skill and creative problem solving

• More resilient in dealing with pressure and changing demands

• Boost in creativity and innovative thinking

• Improved wellbeing, vitality, optimism, enthusiasm and job fulfilment.
