What is it – Mindfulness and Meditation are quite interrelated. Meditation is a mental exercise that encourages awareness, focus and relaxation. According to Jon Kabat Zinn, “Mindfulness is awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally. Mindfulness can be attained through formal (meditation) and informal (being present in everyday moments) practices however both need to be practised regularly.


What are the benefits – The mental, cognitive and physical benefits of mindfulness and meditation are extensive. Results may vary from person to person but some positive aspects of a regular practice include increased happiness, positivity, compassion, improved, relationships, work satisfaction and reduced stress, anxiety and depression. From a cognitive perspective one can expect increased attention, memory, creativity, focus and innovation. Physically – reduced chronic pain , levels of Cortisol, improved immune function, cardiovascular factors, sleep.

What are the benefits – these are wide ranging, from increased range of movement and flexibility, improved core strength, breathing stamina, endurance, focus, concentration. Better alignment, body awareness and relaxation.


Is it suitable for all – this type of yoga is suitable for those who are already exercising regularly and wish to take the next step in “raising their game”. Although it can be quite challenging the rewards are multi faceted from a physical and psychological perspective.

Gentle and Restorative Yoga

What is it – Restorative yoga is a type of yoga which encourages physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. It is practised at a slow pace, focusing on long holds for upwards of 5 minutes generally, stillness and deep breathing.


What are the benefits – soothes the central nervous system. Slows down the pace of life. Promotes greater sleep. Improves body awareness. Gently stretches the body. Encourages relaxation and calmness within the mind and body. Can help reduce anxiety and stress. Encourages mindfulness.


Is it suitable for all – yes! This class blends some gentle moves with restorative holds to bring a nurturing balance of movement and stillness to the body.

What is it – a class dedicated to the men!


What are the benefits – in addition to being a beneficial exercise, some of the many health benefits yoga has to offer include improved flexibility, posture, blood flow and alignment. It helps to build muscle strength and encourages better sleep, greater peace of mind and a healthier lifestyle. The added benefit of a Men’s only class is a sense of a male collective and environment. Yoga can often be construed as an easy and “girly” form of exercise but most of my male students would hastily beg to differ!

This class is an opportunity to delve into the world of yoga or hone in on improving technique and alignment. Getting the basics right is paramount for creating a safe, successful and effective practice. This class focuses on stretching the body in a manner that benefits the body and mind.


What are the benefits – this is a great class with a mix of themes and focus. Students can expect the following with a regular practice – improved posture, flexibility, bone health, blood flow, lymphatic drainage, immune system. People can also look forward to a reduction in tension, anxiety and stress and improved sleep and general well being.  Letting go of the day's stresses and easing in to the evening in a more relaxed state.

What is it – a gentle, slow yoga class combined with mindfulness practices suitable for beginners and non beginners alike. This class is an opportunity to delve into the world of yoga and mindfulness and is a wonderful introduction to both practices.



What are the benefits – this is a great class with a mix of themes and focus. Students can expect a gentle stretch along with some strengthening and balancing poses. The mindfulness cultivates a "living in the here and now" approach, training the mind to become less caught up in the past or future but instead be in the present. Both the mindfulness and yoga can assist in the reduction of tension, anxiety and stress along with improved sleep and general well being.



Is it suitable for all – yes, with the yoga everyone is encouraged to go at their own pace, listen to their body and make sure to get the fundamentals right and then improve the finer aspects of hold, breath and alignment.
