Curious about Nia? This free trial class is a chance to come along, have a move, and see how it feels for you — no pressure, no expectations.
We’ll be dancing the AYA routine, inspired by uplifting Latin rhythms. Think expressive movement, music that makes you want to move, and the freedom to dance in your own way. You’ll be gently guided throughout, with enough structure to support you — but always with space to listen to your body and move in a way that feels good.
Nia blends dance, mindfulness and simple, functional movement. There are 52 core moves within Nia, but don’t worry — this isn’t about learning them all (and they don't all appear in this routine!). It’s about enjoying the music, reconnecting with your body, and finding your own flow.
This session is suitable for all levels — whether you love to dance or feel like you’ve got “two left feet.” Come as you are.
We dance Nia in bare feet - so please do be ready for this. If this won't work for you, you can work yoga socks (with grips), or very light (clean) shoes. Wear something comfortable to move in. You might like to bring a yoga mat and blanket for relaxation at the end. It's possible to have a chair if needed.
Stay on afterwards for regular classes if it feels like a good fit for you.
Susie from Pause & Breathe is the facilitator for this session.
This Free Trial Session will be held on Saturday 16th May 9.30-10.30am. I'll be starting regular classes the following week, at the same time.
