Bring your kids along for a fun session, learning bushcraft skills in Roughcastle woods.

In teams they will be taught how to build a survival shelter only using natural resources they've found in the woods, making them wind & waterproof to keep them safe warm and out of the Scottish elements.

When the shelters are built, they'll be onto a "Kelly Kettle Challenge": how to get a fire lit using flint steel and collecting natural tinder from the woods to boil the water in the Kelly Kettle. No fire, no boiled water, no hot drink.

The participants will learn about safety around fire, respecting nature. This is a physical activity, lots concentration needed to stay focused, and to keep calm even in the most difficult situations.

This session is guided by John from Well Wild, with Phil from Pause & Breathe.

There will be hot drinks, snacks and definitely marshmallows to cook over your fire - only if you get your fire alight!

This session is free as it has been funded by Scotmid Co-Op.

The session will run from 2-4pm on Sunday 31st May. We will let you know where to meet to drop off and pick up the kids. If any adults want to be present, please let us know in advance. There is a limited number of places, so please only book in if the children will definitely attend. Let us know if there are any dietary requirements as some snacks will be provided.
