This class will be for those who have a good understanding of the basic yoga postures and have begun to experience a wider variety of poses and styles. We will begin to deepen our understanding of the relationship between breath and movement. There will be some Hatha flow involved, where we will move from one posture to another with our breath. A wider variety of breathing techniques and philosophy will also be explored. Don't worry about how the poses look, flexibility or stength - adaptions and alternatives will be provided for all!

This class is suitable for a mix of levels, with adaptions and alternatives offered throughout. Some experience with Yoga would be of benefit, but not a requirement.


This class is Hatha Yoga in style, which is a branch of yoga that involves breath, body and mind. We start with some mindful awareness, breathing exercises and intention setting. We begin our physical work with some gentle movements, building heat through Sun Salutations, take a little time to explore some peak postures and get inquisitive about what our bodies can do. We then slow it down again to end, finishing with some more mindfulness, breathwork and gratitudes.

Relax, Release and Restore - Restorative Yoga in Youghal Studio

This class an hour and a half long. We start with a very slow moving flow and then follow up with restorative poses held for up to 4 minutes. We finish with a Yoga Nidra for around 15 mins, which is a deep, relaxing, guided meditation. Then roll straight from your mat to bed.


The idea is that all of the slow movement, breath work and restful postures kick start the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) and begins to undo the work of the sympathetic nervous system (stress response). Many of us are spending too much time with our sympathetic nervous system in gear, and it's not good for the body and mind in many ways. This is an opportunity to give them the break they deserve.


Warning - Restorative Yoga is slow, still and quiet. It can be really difficult to stay in this mode with no distractions. Just remember, you're working towards lowering cortisol (stress hormone) and releasing serotonin (mood stabilising hormone). It may not feel like you're doing anything, but that is exactly the point!
